How to Translate Medium From English to Hindi (Step-by-Step)

Website TranslationBilingual ReadingHow-ToEnglish to HindiMedium

Reading English articles on Medium is easy, but sometimes you want the meaning in your own language. Hindi is spoken by millions, and being able to read an English piece in Hindi — while keeping the English original in view — is ideal for learning and for getting the nuance exactly right.

This guide shows how to translate an English Medium article into Hindi in place, with the English source staying visible so you can compare the two.

Demo note: the screenshots below are built in a real Medium article layout to show exactly how BothLang displays a bilingual page — the English paragraph on top and the Hindi translation directly beneath it, with a hand-drawn arrow pointing at the translation. The workflow is identical on Medium and most blogs because BothLang works on whatever page you are viewing.

What you need

  • BothLang installed in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox — see the download page.
  • The extension pinned to your toolbar.
  • An English article open in a tab.

Step 1 — Open the English article

Open the English piece you want to read. You can use any Medium story, Substack newsletter, or blog post written in English.

Step 2 — Set Hindi as your target language

Click the BothLang icon:

  • Set Translate into to Hindi.
  • Set Page display to Bilingual.

Step 3 — Translate the page

Click Translate Now. BothLang places a Hindi translation directly beneath each English paragraph, leaving the English intact. A hand-drawn arrow marks the first translated paragraph.

The result is a bilingual page:

Step 4 — Switch reading modes

  • Bilingual — English and Hindi together.
  • Translation only — fastest when you just need meaning.
  • Original only — back to clean English.

Step 5 — Hover one paragraph

For a single tricky passage, use hover translation: hold your shortcut (Shift, Alt, or Ctrl) and point at a paragraph.

Why keep the English source visible?

  • Accuracy. Names, product terms, and idioms can be rendered loosely. The source beside the Hindi lets you verify.
  • Learning. Reading an English paragraph under its Hindi meaning builds vocabulary in context.

The short version

  1. Install and pin BothLang.
  2. Open an English article.
  3. Set Translate into: Hindi, Page display: Bilingual.
  4. Click Translate Now.
  5. Read the Hindi with the English original underneath.

Try it on your next English article, newsletter, or blog post.
